fuantei
When the news it would be released in anime form (other than the OVA) I was hesitant to be excited. Small facts were released along with it; Black Rock shooter wearing a hood and the lack of her scars - this alone was enough to make me sceptical. The first episode was released last week and I was right to be sceptical. The art is sketchy and doesn't do it justice, the real world and Black rock shooters world don't seem to match in styles. The story line is shady, taking scenes from the OVA and adding them to a completely altered storyline. It would have been more fitting to adapt the OVA into the eight episodes this series will run for. There was plenty of room to play and continue with the OVA's storyline; there was a cliffhanger ending in which Yuu's other self was introduced. Granted the game ran a completely seperate course to either of these, not involving the original alternate worlds and running with Black Rock Shooter being a clone not another self of a human. Yet, for a game it was acceptable. It would have made a lot more self to use the OVA and simply carry on.

The anime itself is disappointing, but as a fan of all BRS related things, I find myself obligated to continue watching in. I hope at some point it will redeam itself, but so far it is just ... not very good.

On a good and slight urelated to the anime note, Black Rock Shooter beast figure and art book was recently released. I'm hoping it will be still available next month once I get paid. Huke's designs for her are always beautiful even if he alters her. That's probably why I love the game - huke had input into it. I'm a little unsure as to whether he has with the anime. He definately hasn't with the art.
